Sonic Colors
Sonic Colors is a Sega platform game released in 2010. It chronicles Sonic's journey to prevent his arch-enemy Doctor Eggman from enslaving an alien civilization and conquering the Earth. The gameplay is similar to previous Sonic games in that players gather rings and kill monsters; the camera angle frequently flips from third-person to side-scrolling. Wisps, which are power-ups that the player may employ to improve attack strength and enter new places, are also introduced in the game.
The game was created for a broader target than previous games, especially youngsters and Super Mario series enthusiasts. In preparation for the game's release, Sega delisted numerous Sonic games with low Metacritic scores in order to boost the brand's worth. Critics complimented Sonic Colors' aesthetics, music, soundtrack, gameplay, and replay value, and many saw it as a return to form for the franchise. Some, however, questioned the game's difficulty and multiplayer feature. Over two million copies were sold, making it a commercial success. The Wisp power-ups introduced in Sonic Colors become a Sonic franchise mainstay.
