Sonic Unleashed
Sonic Unleashed is a Sonic the Hedgehog platform video game released in 2008. The plot follows Sonic as he attempts to rebuild the world after his nemesis Doctor Eggman shatters it with a powerful laser to unleash Dark Gaia, an ancient evil, while also dealing with his transformation into a "Werehog", a werewolf-like transformation gained after coming into contact with Dark Gaia's energy. The gameplay is divided into two unique types, each of which may be played during the day or at night. Daytime stages combine Sonic's classic platforming and trademark speed with a mix of behind-the-back third-person perspectives and 2D side-scroller platforming; action transitions effortlessly between these two views.
Sonic Unleashed piqued the public's interest because video game writers regarded it as a possible return to Sonic's platforming beginnings. While it was a financial success, selling 2.45 million units, the critical response was divided. Some features were lauded, such as the sensation of speed in daylight levels and the images and music that make up the settings, while others were condemned, such as the Werehog game mechanism and various gameplay and design concepts. Many people believed that Unleashed was not the game that would revitalize the franchise.
