Sonic Forces

Sonic Forces is a platform video game released in 2017 by Sega and developed by Sonic Team. It was published in November 2017 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Sonic the Hedgehog joins a resistance army to oppose Doctor Eggman, who has controlled the planet with the help of new enemy Infinite. It has three gameplay modes: "Classic", which is side-scrolling gameplay akin to the original Sega Genesis Sonic games; "Modern", which is 3D gameplay similar to Sonic Unleashed (2008) and Sonic Colors (2010); and "Avatar", which is the player's unique character.

Critics gave Sonic Forces mixed reviews. They complimented the game's presentation, soundtrack, voice acting, character creation system, and Modern Sonic gameplay, but they criticized the narrative, overly scripted level design and gameplay, technical issues, and the inclusion of Classic Sonic. Many reviews saw it as a letdown after the critically acclaimed Sonic Mania, which had been published earlier that year.
