Universiti Kuala Lumpur
Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is a multi-campus technical university based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It has 11 other campuses in Malaysia, including Gombak, Cheras, Bangi, Kajang, Sepang, Taboh Naning, Pasir Gudang, Ipoh, Lumut, and Kulim. Universiti Kuala Lumpur was founded in 2002 and is wholly owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat, a Malaysian government agency formed to train Malaysians in business and industry. Today, the university has over 30,000 students enrolled in 139 different programs.
Students with SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) or O-level equivalent can apply to the university's diploma programs. Those with a diploma may apply for credit transfer entry into degree programs. As a result of a collaboration between Malaysia and France, the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute was established in 1995. Similar agreements with the governments of the United Kingdom and Spain have resulted in the establishment of British, Spanish, and Italian institutes within the university.
There are also institutes for medical science technology, information technology, aviation technology, chemical and bioengineering technology, marine engineering technology, medicine, design, industrial technology, and business. In 2005, the Institute of Postgraduate Studies was established. Working adults can take advantage of the university's weekend and evening degree programs. Through 10 hours of additional learning, the Huffas Programme assists students in memorizing the Koran. Following that, the students take an exam. Its goal is to produce Muslim professionals who adhere to Islamic values.
