Opened in 1987, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park is actually targeting record books. At 5,532 acres in the Indian pilgrimage city of Tirupati, Asia's largest zoo. It is also officially listed in the Guinness Book of Records for breeding the world's largest leopard, weighing 143 kg!

Arinyar Anna Zoological Park is one of the most modern and scientifically managed parks located in Vandalur, Tamil Nadu, India. With an area of 1,265 acres and 2553 species of flora and fauna, it is the second-largest zoo in India. This is the second-largest zoo in the world. It was created with the purpose of becoming a repository for the national fauna. It has also been designated as Tamil Nadu's second wildlife sanctuary, after Mudumalai National Park.

Nandankanan Zoo is a zoo and botanical garden in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, covering a total area of 437 hectares (1080 acres). Founded in 1960, opened to the public in 1979 and became the first zoo in India to join the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009. It includes Chandaka Forest and Lake Kanza with an area of 54 hectares.
In the year 2000 (after the damage caused by the 1999 Odisha Coastal Supercyclone), significant modernization took place. More than 2.6 million visitors a year visit Nandankanan.

Over the years, Assam Zoo and Botanical Gardens has grown and expanded to include attractive exotic animals such as African chimpanzees, white rhinos, black rhinos, zebras, ostriches, and giraffes. Founded in 1963, Nehru Zoological Park embraces 380 acres (153.8 hectares) near the Mir Alam Reservoir in Hyderabad, India. Nehru Zoo has over 1,100 animals of 100 species. Interestingly, Indian animals such as the Indian rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, and leopard also live here.
You may also see Asian lions, gauers, elephants, pythons, antelopes, deer and slender loris. Also, many birds live here. The popular night house is the main attraction. Mysore Zoo comprises of 157 acres (64 hectares) and 113 acres (46 hectares) of Lake Karanji Nature Park and the Chamundi Conservation and Rehabilitation Center. Originally Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens started as a small private institution in the summer palace of Maharaja Sri Chamaraja Vodiyar.
