University of Basrah
The University of Basrah, founded in 1964, is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the Basrah metropolis (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Basra. This institution also has branch campuses in the cities of Qurna, Abolkaseeb, and Zubair. The University of Basrah (UOB), which is officially recognized by Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is a large (enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational Iraqi higher education institution.
The University of Basrah (UOB) provides courses and programs that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees in a variety of fields of study. This Iraqi higher-education institution, which is 56 years old, has a selective admission policy based on students' previous academic records and grades. This Iraqi higher education organization is the least selective, with an admission rate of 80-90 percent. International applicants are welcome to apply. UOB also offers a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aid and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, and administrative services to students.
