Breezes

Breezes is an outside beachside restaurant on the grounds of Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa, as its name suggests. It's the only restaurant in Bermuda where you may eat with your toes in the sand, albeit getting a table is difficult. Whether you have a reservation or not, they are all first-come, first-served, so get there early, kick off your shoes, and get seated. Don't worry if one of the few tables on the beach isn't available. You'll be sitting on the open-air wooden deck that overlooks the beach, which offers the same view as the beach. In any case, this restaurant is perfect for a relaxing lunch or a romantic sunset meal with children 12 and under are not allowed.

Stick to light spirits with a refreshing twist during the day, such as a caipirinha or a mojito. Because you'll be rum-punched out by 5 p.m., opt for wine at dinner. Three sparkling wines are available by the glass, as well as around a half-dozen other bottles. The majority are under $80, with some excellent mid-$60 options (such as the Allegrini Valpolicella for $64).

The lunch menu of Breezes is dominated by sandwiches, salads, and burgers; the fish sandwich is served island-style on toasted raisin bread with tartar sauce. At supper, a Bermuda honey crust on the rack of lamb, black rum butter and local carrots in the free-range chicken, and Bermuda onion marmalade on the black angus steak merge worldwide influences with Bermudian tradition. The surf 'n turf, especially from September to March, when spiny lobster is in season, is a hit, as is the local catch, which is usually wahoo, tuna, or rockfish simply grilled and delivered with your choice of sauce.
