Fresh seafood, wild animals, local products, and artesian cheeses were among the culinary delicacies offered when the restaurant first opened in July of 2004. The restaurant's ambiance is upscale contemporary, and the dining room is surrounded by a vast glass wine cave. A Contemporary Mediterranean-American menu with Pacific influences is served, with an emphasis on highly fresh, made-to-order food. Every single item is created in-house. Rachel Benjamin, a talented pastry chef and Scott's wife, prepares their desserts.
The bar menu features classic drinks made with fresh juices and quality alcohol. In their temperature-controlled, glass wine cave, they keep over 400 exquisite spirits, 60 beers, and 700 wines, 70 of which are also served by the glass. The wine at 4 Olives Wine Bar is taken seriously. The restaurant's collection of over 800 bottles of wine, which serves as both decoration and menu, is maintained in a vast glass cave in the dining room's center, providing an arresting, dramatic centerpiece. Each of the 800 wines, many of which are offered by the glass, is then paired with a specific menu item, resulting in a perfect balance of food and drink.
The bacon-wrapped Medjool dates packed with Gorgonzola cheese and the grilled scallops with shiitake broth are two of the menu's highlights. The menu also includes an excellent assortment of cheeses and charcuterie that may be combined and matched according to taste for those who desire a lighter meal or a more typical wine pairing.

In 2009, The Burger Stand was born in the kitchen of an Irish pub. The Burger Stand boasts a wide menu of gourmet burgers, hawt doggz, a large vegetarian menu, and so many sides (fries aplenty!) and a free sauce bar since relocating to the Casbah at 803 Massachusetts in historic Downtown Lawrence and extending to Topeka in 2011. Our bar menus feature classic American cocktails as well as a carefully curated selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles. Larger private rooms are available for reservations at each location.
The Burger Stand promises quirky and cool from the start, with a wiry light-up sign above the doorway and large, beaming dinosaurs in the windows. Inside, exposed brickwork and plumbing coexist with brightly colored signs and chalkboards in a wonderfully industrial setting. The Burger Stand, as the name implies, specializes in gourmet burgers made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients: try the Kobe burger with truffle butter and greens, or the Smoke, which comes with Applewood smoked bacon, gouda cheese, and chipotle-cola ketchup.
The Burger Stand at the Casbah is located on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence's historic district. Their bar selection focuses on classic American cocktails, with over 35 craft beers on tap and over 100 bottles to choose from. Our basement bar, The Beer Hall, is open most nights and may be reserved for private events.
They opened a second store in Topeka, Kansas' capital city, on September 8, 2011. The Burger Stand at College Hill, located near Washburn University at 1601 SW Lane St., serves the same gourmet burgers and drinks that Lawrence has come to love! The Topeka site has an outside patio with seating for approximately 150 people and two fully stocked bars, one of which is called "The Pong Bar" and is located in the back dining area. Ping Pong Tables, Pool Tables, and more games are available at the Pong Bar. The Pong Bar can also be rented out for private events.

The Free State Brewing Company, which opened in 1989, was Kansas' first legal brewery in nearly a century. They've been working day in and day out since opening their doors on Mass Street to be a haven for beer enthusiasts, where good beer and delicious cuisine can generate lively conversations and memorable experiences. The Free State Brewing Company, a small 14-barrel brewery, does not specialize in any one style of beer, but instead creates a wide range of beers to suit all tastes, from the crisp Copperhead Pale Ale to the malty Ironman Imperial Stout, and has recently expanded its operation to include beers bottled on site. The brewery's beers are served at the attached restaurant, which also serves a scrumptious array of sandwiches, pastas, steaks, and quesadillas as a hearty companion to your favorite brew.
Their 14-barrel brewhouse is equipped with some of the greatest technology available to small brewers, but they believe the most important ingredients are the care and respect that their energetic, knowledgeable staff has for each and every beer they produce. And now that they're bottling their beers in their expanded bottling facility, people all around Kansas and Missouri may enjoy their attention to detail and commitment to exceptional taste and quality.

The Hay's House Restaurant and Tavern is a Kansas tradition, having been founded in 1857 by Seth Hays, Daniel Boone's great-grandson. Hay's House Restaurant and Tavern has been proudly serving clients for over 150 years and is the oldest continually operating restaurant west of the Mississippi River. Jesse James and George Armstrong Custer were among the tavern's previous clients, providing a visit a true peek into American, Kansan, and gastronomic history. The restaurant still has an old-fashioned, nostalgic feel to it, with the original fixtures and bar in the subterranean dining area.
The cuisine is also straightforward and classic, with a choice of steaks, seafood, and barbecues to choose from. This restaurant and trading post was also the venue of many other local activities from the mid-to-late 1800s. The structure was hired by the US government to hold court and distribute mail. Bartenders covered the liquor bottles on Saturday evenings so that church services could be held on Sunday mornings.
They invite you to see the historic rooms of the Hays House Restaurant, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Step back in time to the original bar in the rustic stone basement. It's easy to image Santa Fe Trail travelers saddling up and tossing a few back from this vantage point. Then make your way upstairs to the Judd Family's cherished crystal collection, which is housed in the Crystal Room. On each floor, there are new discoveries to be made. Consider hosting bridal or baby showers in the Crystal Room, as well as bachelor parties or group gatherings in the basement, when you visit these locations.
They have the distinction of being the oldest restaurant west of the Mississippi. This historic eating establishment has been given new life by co-owners Frankie & Shey-Anne Greco and head chef Randall Dickson, who purchased it in 2019. They serve soulful, high-quality meals in a welcoming environment for families. They are still going strong after 165 years because of their excellent service and low costs.

Public is a farm-to-table eatery that caters to the entire family! They first opened its doors for dinner service in 2012, adjacent to Brickyard, Old Town's leading outdoor music venue, with the purpose of delivering fresh and regionally sustainable products to produce their perspective on local cuisine flavors. They were able to do so by collaborating with a variety of local merchants and creating an eclectic menu that blended the old and the new. Their first menu was heavily influenced by the nostalgia linked with their historic building and Travis' childhood memories of growing up in that area, as well as the culinary impact of contemporary trends originating in St. Louis at the time. Public has something for everyone, from their globally known food to their laid-back atmosphere!
Public at the Brickyard, a true local treasure, emphasizes a farm-to-table approach to its meals, sourcing local produce and collaborating closely with farmers and brewers to ensure the best quality ingredients and products are available on the menu. The end product is a delectable eating experience that reflects the region's specialties as well as Kansan cuisine. The Wichita wings, which are marinated and fried in a special house BBQ sauce, and the prairie sliders, which are created with bison meat, cheddar cheese, sweet onion marmalade, and a mustard aioli, are also worth trying. Choose from one of the many distinctive microbrews available, such as the River City Brewing Co. and the Hopping Gnome Brewery, both situated in Wichita.

Cafe Renaissance has been providing the metropolitan region with an intimate and delightful dining experience in the Parisian style since 1994. Owner Saeed Abtahi and his culinary staff are fine dining veterans who devote their decades of experience to preserving an ancient art form. You are not a customer here; you are a friend, and it is their pleasure to share their love of cuisine and service with you.
The Renaissance Café is housed in the old Assaria High School, a unique, elegant restaurant that was built in the early twentieth century. With tables set around the sunken gymnasium floor, piled bookcases filling the corners, and old-fashioned posters, pictures, and portraits of the past presidents adorning the walls, it nevertheless preserves many nostalgic connections to its former life. The menu, which focuses on northern Italian cuisine, deviates from usual cafeteria fare; standouts include the gorgonzola salad with walnuts and dried cranberries, and the steak Fiorentina, which is marinated in olive oil, garlic, and herbs before being chargrilled to perfection.

One of the best barbecue joints in the country is located in the center of Kansas City. Rosedale BBQ, located at 600 Southwest Boulevard, has been serving wonderful barbecue and pleasant, timely service for over seventy years. On July 4, 1934, Anthony Rieke and his wife Alda, as well as their brother-in-law Anthony "Tony" Sieleman, opened Rosedale Bar B Que as a neighborhood hot dog and beer business called "The Bucket Shop." For a quarter, you could get a half-gallon bucket of the town's coldest beer at the Bucket Shop.
Rosedale is a laid-back eatery where customers make their orders at the counter, then take their food to one of the tables or booths and eat. Rosedale has never been compelled to include fashionable menu items. They've just kept to conventional barbecue food, ensuring that the meats they serve are of the highest quality: brisket, ham, hog, and turkey, as well as the ever-popular ribs and chicken. They have been loyal to the restaurant since its start, and they continue to serve some of the best hot dogs in town. Hot dogs can now be topped with barbecue-style chili. Yummy! Barbecued baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, onion rings, jalapeño poppers, corn nuggets, and some of the crispiest golden fries in town are among the side options.
Rosedale's sauce is a peppery, gently spicy family recipe that perfectly complements the meat. Many restaurants provide a "Smokey" flavored sauce, but Mr. Rieke has always maintained that the smoked flavor should come from the meat itself, rather than being added to the sauce artificially. Rosedale also offers catering and event planning for all occasions, so you may enjoy the Rosedale experience at work or at home. News crews, entertainers, executives, blue-collar employees, government leaders, and even a previous president have all dined at Rosedale.
