  7. The Coulson family has owned the White Gull Inn since 1972, when Andy Coulson, at 24 years old, bought it with four pals. Andy and his wife Jan took over as sole owners in 1981 and ran the inn until 2018, when they handed over the reins to Meredith and Chris Coulson-Kanter, Andy's daughter and son-in-law. Andy and Jan, seen with Meredith and Chris, are overjoyed that the inn will remain in the family and that they will be able to work with the next generation.


    Today, the White Gull Inn, which has been on the State and National Registers of Historic Places for a long time, has become a favorite eating and bed-and-breakfast site for generations of residents and tourists.
