Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

Mary Poppins Returns is a 2018 American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall. The script was written by David Magee, while the plot was developed by Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca. The film is a sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins and is loosely based on the book series Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers. It stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins.

While the world may not have asked for a sequel to Mary Poppins, Disney's decades-later sequel tries its best to commemorate the acclaimed original while imbuing the story with all of the current sensibilities of a Disney picture. The film, which stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, takes place decades after the original, with Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Karen Dotrice) now grownups. When the bank is on the verge of foreclosing on their late father's estate, Michael's only chance is the inheritance certificates. Right in the midst of this financial difficulty, the ever-fleeting Mary Poppins appears out of nowhere to assist the adult children on their mission to establish their value.
