    Samsø

If you want to visit one of the most beautiful islands in Denmark, do not overlook the Samsø island. Samsø is completely self-sufficient and runs entirely on renewable energy. It is a fantastic choice for a relaxing vacation in peaceful surroundings. Kattegat has several gorgeous sandy beaches, fantastic fishing options, and a flat topography that is suitable for an island cycling vacation.

On Samsø, you may enjoy a terrific summer vacation with the entire family. The small Danish island has a plethora of interesting experiences to offer. For example, you may ride along Samsø's 75-mile-long coast before spending the night in a pleasant environment at a camping spot, family-owned summer hotel, or under the open sky in a shelter.

Find your inner farmer and get some dirt under your nails by digging up Samsø's potatoes for dinner or relaxing on Ballen's lovely beach. You can also enter the world's largest labyrinth, which is the size of 12 football fields if you dare. If that's too much for you, you can spend your time wandering the meandering alleyways among the modest, thatched half-timbered buildings in the charming village.

    Ærø

Ærø is a small moraine island in the South Funen Archipelago, and it is one of Denmark's smallest island settlements, with only 34 square miles. When you arrive at Ærø, it will appear as if time has stopped.

Step into a world where you can do everything from fascinating walks in stunning natural regions to tours of a small whisky distillery where the renowned (or notorious) Ærø Whiskey is manufactured. Take a stroll through the little towns and appreciate the picturesque mansions that may be traced back to the 17th century, when Ærø played a major role in Denmark's naval history.

    Ærø
is a fantastic example of Danish hygge! Cobblestone streets, cozy squares, narrow streets, and colorful historic houses can be found here. The island's capital, Ærøskøbing, is recognized as Denmark's fairytale city and is the best-preserved Middle Ages city in the country.

  3. Bornholm is one of the most beautiful islands in Denmark beacause it is a picture-perfect Baltic Sea island noted for its dense forest and white sand beaches, attracting a large number of visitors each year to explore its magnificent beauty. It will be difficult not to sing when you get to Bornholm. This is a fantastic vacation island that has something for everyone in the family, from the youngest to the elderly.

The scenery of Bornholm is breathtaking and unlike anything else in Denmark. The island's terrain is embellished with craggy groupings of rocks that are unique in Denmark, as well as a spectacular coastline that includes Hammershus, Northern Europe's largest castle ruin.

Aside from unrivaled natural experiences and medieval remains located on rocks, there are several gourmet opportunities. Have you ever had Sol over Gudhjem (an open-faced sandwich with herring) or dug your teeth into authentic Krølle Bølle ice cream?

    Anholt

In Kattegat, between Jutland and Sweden, there is a little island with just approximately 160 people living on an area of roughly 8.5 square miles. The island's name is Anholt, and if you're not familiar with it, there are several reasons why you should be.

Despite its tiny size, the terrain on the Anholt island is quite diverse, with extensive sandy beaches, untamed dune landscapes, thick woodland, and desert parts covered in dense heather. This is Denmark's most isolated society, and the residents have adapted to island life away from the mainland throughout time. Remember that driving a car is not permitted in many areas of the island, so put on your hiking boots!

The island is also well-known for its seal population. Eat some delectable foods at Orakel Bar or Tanternes Bed and Breakfast. Other notable sights include Anholt Kirke, a lovely chrusch, and the Hylkegaard vineyards. Anholt island is unknown for providing the most serene vacation and is a haven for peace lovers.

    Læsø

Læsø is the largest island in Kattegat in the North Sea which is situated between the Danish towns of Fredrikshavn and Gothenburg in Sweden. This unique island is known for its long sandy beaches, beautiful seaweed roofs, and delectable lobster. In Norse mythology, it was also thought to be the gods' dining location.

Læsø offers leisure and pleasure for the entire family. The island includes miles of beaches where families may enjoy the child-friendly surf, as well as large forests that allow you to take long walks in the lush environs.

If you need to get away from your daily routine, Læsø is the ideal location. There's plenty of space among the moors, heather, and marshes to catch your breath, relax, and recharge your batteries. There is no doubt that this island is one of the best islands to visit in Denmark.

  6. A small archipelago called Ertholmene may be found north of Bornholm. The name of the archipelago comes from the size of the islands, which resemble two little peas. Only two of the archipelago's nine islands are inhabited: Chrisiansø and Frederiksø. The remaining islands are largely made up of rock formations, which add to the archipelago's distinctiveness.

Visitors can traverse a 100-foot-long footbridge to get from Chrisiansø to Frederiksø and return. Because of the remoteness of the islands, it feels like a true time capsule. When you first arrive on the island, you'll see that, in comparison to the rest of Denmark.

The Danes arrived in 1684 and built a castle and naval station to control the sea lanes. These locations provide excellent sightseeing opportunities and are a sight to behold. Another interest in the area is the Lille Tårn tower on Frederiksø, which has information about the island's naval history on exhibit. Store Tårn is another historical landmark that surrounds the island's lighthouse. Visit these islands to relive Denmark's past.

  7. Sejerø is a small island in Kattegat, about five kilometers west of Zealand, located in Sejerø Bay (Sejerøbugten). The island is only 7.5 miles long by 1.25 miles wide. It is one of the largest of Denmark's "little islands." There is lovely nature, great beaches, and some breathtaking historical sites to visit.

Sejerø is one of the places in Denmark that has the greatest hours of sunshine, making it a perfect summer vacation destination - especially if you want to spend your vacation in peace. There are various burial mounds and monoliths on the island, as well as exquisite frescoes in the island's church, which was built around 1300.

In Sejerby, you may rent bicycles. Because the roads are tiny, keep a watch out for local hens and dogs. Gniben Lighthouse is a must-see; the vista is breathtaking. You will feel as if you are standing "in the middle of geography" — the information board gives you the directions and names of the islands and provinces on the horizon.

    Fur

Fur, a Danish island in the middle of the Limfjord, was named the most beautiful island of the year by readers of a Danish daily newspaper in 2010. Spend your summer vacation in Limfjorden on Fur! It's gorgeous, with peaceful beaches, white cliffs, and plenty of fossils to find. On this 8.5-square-mile island, you will also find Bronze Age burial mounds and a small brewery that brews beer for the entire island.

Fur's exceptional natural beauty, in particular, has made this island a popular tourist destination. There are tall moclay cliffs on the island where geology aficionados can locate fossils, reptiles, and insects. The moclay is made up of roughly 200 ash layers, which may be seen in the cliffs' well-preserved formations. Other parts of Fur include ravines formed by ice age erosion, making it a particularly stunning natural location. In other words, if you're planning a vacation on Fur, don't forget to pack your good hiking shoes.

  9. Hjarnø is a small Danish island with a population of just over 100 people and an area of only 1.2 square miles. Despite being only 500 meters from the mainland, Hjarnø exudes an island vibe. As soon as you arrive at the small ferry quay, time stops and history emerges from beneath the surface.

Hjarnø is a flat moraine developed during the last ice age that is perfect for hiking due to its tiny size. For example, you can take a trip to the ancient Viking Age burial mounds east of the lagoon at Hjarnø Odde and marvel at the massive boulders arranged in the shape of an old Viking ship. On the island, you can also find Denmark's tiniest church, as well as traces of the Viking Ages.

Don't forget to try local wine and freshly dug potatoes, and explore the island's magnificent countryside on foot, bicycle, tractor, or golf buggy.

    Rømø

The island of Rømø is located in the center of the Wadden Sea National Park and is particularly well-known for its birdlife. However, birds are not the only species who come here to wade.

During the summer, this lovely island attracts a large number of tourists, who crowd the mile-long sandy beach. On Rømø, you can visit the well-known Lakolk beach or the bustling beach Sonderstrand. These sandy beaches are ideal for sunbathing and swimming in the (frequently) frigid sea.

If you visit Tønder or any of the other towns on Rømø, you will find little comfortable places with unique experiences and local attractions. Try picking your oysters from the Wadden Sea. Watch the unforgettable Black Sun play in Tøndermarsken or go on a historical adventure to Løgumkloster Church, Højer Mill, or the famous place where the golden horns were discovered.
