At an elevation of 9,436 feet above sea level, Maromokotro ranked first among the highest mountains in Madagasca. The mountain is found near Bealanana in the Tsaratanana Massif. Maromokotro is also Antsiranana's highest mountain. The peak is found within the Tsaratanana Reserve, a protected area.
Mount Maromokotro is a key supply of water for the surrounding area, as well as a major source of rivers such as the Bermarivo, Mahavavy, and Sambirano. The mountain's summit is occasionally blanketed with snow, which melts away in the summer. Because of its distant location, climbers and tourists do not flock to Mount Maromokotro.
It does, however, include beautiful waterfalls and provides a peaceful environment for those who manage to get there. A French explorer was the first to ascend the mountain in 1936. On its peak, there is a small cairn from which one can have a great view of the island.

At an elevation of 8,045 feet, Boby is one of the highest mountains in Madagasca, especially in the Andringitra Massif. In the Andringitra National Park, the summit is the main attraction. It is also Madagascar's second highest peak and the highest climbable peak.
Mount Boby was named after a dog who is thought to have been the first to reach the peak during the first trip by a French adventurer. The Malagasy, who regarded the mountain sacred, found the name unpleasant and altered it to Imarivolanitra, which means "near to the sky." Even among the natives, though, the name Boby is still widely used.
The mountain contains two waterfalls that cascade down granite cliffs. The two waterfalls have a long and illustrious history in the area. The nearby Tsaranoro Massif and the mountain ranges that stretch to the Indian Ocean may be seen from the summit of Mount Boby. Except for the palm, which grows from 2000 meters above sea level, the mountain has very little vegetation.

Mount Tsiafajavona, one of the highest mountains in Madagasca, is found in central Madagascar's volcanic mountainous region of Ankaratra. After Boby, this mountain climbs to 7,856 feet above sea level, making it ranked 2nd among the highest mountains in Madagasca. Because of the fog that covers the mountain most of the time, the locals named it Tsiafajavona.
Due to its proximity to Ambatolampy town, Mount Tsiafajavona is well-known for hiking. With dense grasses and a few scattered trees, the mountain has a limited biodiversity. In the mountainous areas, there are no significant mammals.
