  1. With a length of 92.8 kilometers, the Rio Minho is the Longest River in Jamaica. The Spaniards who discovered traces of gold in the sands and established a little mine near Longville, Clarendon, named this river Rio de la Mina (River of the Mine). The Minho River begins in the highlands near Spaldings and travels the full length of Clarendon parish before emptying into the sea at Carlisle Bay.

Because of their tendency to rise quite high and flow quickly during the rainy season, the Rio Minho Rivers may be particularly dangerous during the rainy season. As a result, during the rainy season, they may turn into raging rivers, taking away soil and rocks in their upper reaches and devastating crops and properties in their lower reaches. As a result, the Rio Minho River in Clarendon has been known to take many lives.

  2. The Great River ( in Jamaica) is one of the Longest Rivers in Jamaica that separates the parish of St James from Westmoreland and Hanover. The Great River begins at around 1,400 feet (430 meters) in the northwestern corner of St Elizabeth, just north of the little hamlet of Pisgah. It runs north-northeast for roughly 57 miles (92 kilometers) (some sources indicate 46 miles (74 kilometers), reaching the Caribbean Sea at Great River Bay on the island's north coast, 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers) west of Montego Bay.

Take a vacation in Jamaica's beautiful, tropical countryside and embark on a journey down the Great River, an experience you will never forget. The journey will take you through some of Jamaica's most picturesque hills and valleys. Your skipper will navigate you down the river in a bamboo raft that seats two. It will also serve as your guide, providing information about your environment, culture, and people. Visitors will be able to photograph the stunning views as you travel down the river.

  3. The Black River is Jamaica's largest river, and it flows through St. Elizabeth through low-lying regions with clayey soils. As a result, the soils do not drain well and frequently create a bog or morass. Hundreds of plant and animal species live in the Black River Morass. The Black River was once used to transport logs, but today it is mostly utilized to water the relatively arid but rich Pedro Plains and as a tourism attraction known as 'The Black River Safari.'

The river follows beside the road as it passes through Maggotty, descending many minor waterfalls and the Black River Gorge, which is located in Apple Valley Park. The river runs past Newton into the Upper Morass, where it is joined by the Smith River and several minor tributaries,[4] where dense rushes thrive. A fish farm in the Elim region raises the 'Jesus fish,' a kind of African perch so named because of its reputation as a prolific breeder. The Jacana is also known as the 'Jesus bird' because it appears to walk on water as it wades amid the floating leaves of aquatic plants.
